Coventry Ramblers invite you on our walk, travelling by coach to Avebury on Saturday 14 May 2022
There will be a choice of three walks to join, or you might like to look around independently. Avebury is a good destination for non-walkers. As well as the stone circle in the village and the avenue of stones there is Avebury Manor (National Trust), well worth a visit, the church, a museum and a pub in the village.
We expect the cost to be around £16 per person. We would leave the Kenilworth Road car park at the War Memorial Park at 8.30 am, and leave Avebury at 5pm to return to Coventry. There is an all-day (over 5 hours) £5 car parking charge – the car park is open 6am-10pm.
Please email janet@coventryramblers.org.uk to reserve your place by Thursday 14 April.
- Strenuous 9-mile walk ☛ John P plotted a strenuous route – with slopes – up to Fyfield Down, then south to West Overton, and back to Avebury passing Silbury Hill. We will leave time for more pottering or refreshment before 5pm.
- Avebury 8.5-mile archaeological features walk ☛ Paul & Linda offer a figure of eight 8.5 miles medium walk, taking in a number of archaeological features around Avebury, including Silbury Hill, West Kennet Long Barrow, Avebury stone circle and avenue and the Neolithic settlement at Windmill Hill.
- Short walk 4.5-mile ☛ Keith is offering to lead a 4.5-mile walk. It would take in the Avebury Ring, West Kennet Long Barrow and Silbury Hill with more time for looking round the Avebury village.
