Coventry Ramblers invite you on our walk,
travelling by Coach to Cambridge
on Sunday 26th June 2016
There’s a choice of 2 walks:
A 9 mile, and a 3 or 5 mile.
Long Walk (9-mile)
John Garrett will be taking the long walkers out via the Botanic Garden, where we might want to spend some time (admission £5.00, or £4.50 for over-65s) to The Old Vicarage at Grantchester, where Rupert Brooke and Jeffrey Archer used to live (though not together!), coming back through water meadows beside the Cam, passing The Backs (where the colleges back on to the river) and the iconic view of King’s College Chapel. This would leave time to visit some of the colleges and/or the Fitzwilliam Museum, for those who wanted to.
Short Walk (5 mile circular with the option of a shorter 3 mile linear en route for those mainly interested in the sightseeing)
Steve Turner is leading a 5-mile circular short walk with the option of a shorter 3 mile linear en route for those mainly interested in sightseeing, will be concentrated around the most beautiful parts of Cambridge: the colleges, The Backs, and so on, by means of which the atmosphere of the place can be imbibed. It includes a visit to the Castle Mound, which offers ‘a great vista over the city’ and another visit to some ‘futuristic toilets on Victoria Avenue’, always of interest to the rambling sorority (and fraternity).
